Satellite Receiver
The Satellite Receiver is the last part of the satellite system. The receiver does several important things.
1. The Satellite Receiver first descrambles the encrypted satellite signal using the appropriate decoder chip. The satellite signal providers are able to send information and instruction to the decoder chip using the satellite signal. The satellite signal providers communicate with the chip to make changes in their decoding programs and to fight illegal satellite signal reception.
2. The satellite receiver also extracts and separates the individual TV channels from the generic satellite signal received by the satellite dish.
3. The satellite receiver converts the digital MPEG2 signal into analog signal, which is suitable for standard TV. Satellite Receivers in North America, transform the digital signal into an analog NTSC format.
4. Another thing a satellite receiver does is track of the paid pay-per-view programming and billing information transmission to the satellite provider’s system done over the phone.
5. The satellite receiver gets the programming schedule from the satellite provider.
6. Most new satellite receiver models have parental lock options.
